How to Export a Mistral (Vibe / Le Chat) Conversation

Mistral's assistant was renamed from Le Chat to Vibe in August 2026. Same address (chat.mistral.ai), same account, same conversations, and the same gap: there is still no "export this conversation" button. Not per chat, not in bulk. Your threads live on Mistral's servers and the interface is the only official way to see them.

So here is every real way to get a conversation out, from the crude to the clean, with the trade-offs stated plainly. Which one you want depends on why you're exporting.

1. Copy one answer at a time (quick, for a snippet)

Hover over any of Mistral's replies and use the copy button under it. You get that single answer as clean Markdown: headings, lists and code blocks survive. Your own prompts don't come along, so this is for grabbing one good response, not for saving a conversation.

Good for: one answer you want to paste somewhere.
Bad for: anything longer than that.

2. Select all and paste (the whole thread, with junk)

Click at the top of the conversation, drag to the bottom (or use Ctrl+A on the chat area), copy, and paste into a text editor. It works, and it's the method most people actually use. Expect to clean up: timestamps under your messages, "Copy" and "Regenerate" labels, source chips, and no clear marker of who said what. On a long thread, budget five to ten minutes of tidying.

Good for: a one-off backup of a medium-length chat.
Bad for: long threads, or doing it more than once a week.

3. Print to PDF (frozen snapshot)

Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and choose "Save as PDF". Vibe's page prints reasonably well: you get the visible conversation with formatting, in a file you can archive or email. Two catches. Only what has loaded on screen is printed, so scroll to the top of a long conversation first. And a PDF is a picture of the text, not the text: you can't feed it to another AI as context without extracting it again.

Good for: archiving, sharing with someone who won't edit it.
Bad for: reusing the content anywhere.

4. Ask Mistral for your data (complete, slow, not a working file)

Mistral is a French company under GDPR, so you have a right of access to your personal data, which includes conversation history. Their privacy policy lists a contact for data requests. Expect a formal reply within a month and a data dump that is complete but not designed for reading or reuse.

Good for: leaving the platform and wanting a full legal copy.
Bad for: anything you need today.

5. Third-party exporters (convenient, read the permissions)

A few browser extensions and tools add an export button to Mistral, or capture every conversation as you go and keep it in a local library. They range from "saves Markdown files to your disk" to "syncs to our cloud", and that difference matters more than the feature list: check whether the tool sends your conversations to a server before you install it. The ones that keep everything local are fine for regular backups.

6. Export it as Markdown, or move it to another AI, in one click

Which one do you actually need?

Vibe's usage limits on the free plan are generous, but when you do hit them mid-task, "export" is rarely what you want. You want to keep going. Moving the thread to another AI with its full context is the fastest way to do that.

Does Mistral Vibe have a built-in export or download option?

No. As of September 2026 there is no per-conversation export and no bulk download in the Vibe interface, on web or mobile. The rename from Le Chat to Vibe didn't change that.
